During the XVI session of the People Assembly of Kazakhstan held in Astana an award ceremony took place where the most influential leaders of the national communities in the country were awarded for their contribution to strengthening the unity of the Republic and the development of intercultural dialogue. President Nursultan Nazarbayev presented the Chairman of the Association of Jewish National Organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Mitzvah", a member of the General Council of the Eurasian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Alexander Baron with the Golden Medal of Unity.

"I express my special gratitude to those who were among the originators of the Assembly - the President of Kazakhstan said in his speech, - those who have helped me to build a new state, to reform and develop the economy and improve the lives of our people." EAJC was presented at the Assembly as a part of the Jewish delegation. Forum participants included Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Rabbinical Council EAJC rabbi Yeshaya Cohen and Vice President of the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan Fyodor Ossinin.
