CAMP IN HESED NATAN

Kokshetau 31.08.10

Children’s health promotion sporting camp in Hesed Natan was held in two stages - from 10-17 and from 20-27 of August in two towns of Akmola Region - Kokshetau and Stepnogorsk. In total, 14 children of 6-14 years old went to the camp to relax and improve health. Now they are ready for the new academic year. Librarian Z. Lisnevskaya, community member N. Goncharova, mother I. Shapovalova, Psychologist O. Ozherelyeva were very dedicated to organize the camp work. Volunteer Sergey Taran made a sponsorship contribution.

All children who went to the camp are from one-parent or low-income families. Their parents have no opportunity to send children to such a camp. But they contributed by servicing our events, cooking two breakfasts, lunch, afternoon tea, and Shabbat. Our volunteers were also helping.

For our art classes parents bought the needed materials. Children liked the Hebrew classes, making handicrafts, learning Jewish traditions and history. They visited a museum and a theater, went to the amusement park.

The 27th of August was the last day of the camp. It was sad to close the camp but we were very pleased that the closing ceremony was held at Shabbat table. The children were presented with a set of school supplies for the new academic year.

Singing group Anahnu was awarded with certificates and souvenirs to mark their success at the VI International Children’s Festival Freilehe Kinder. Galina Kolesnikova, who had prepared the singing group for the competition, was awarded with a gratitude letter.

Children and parents left their gratitude messages in the Hesed Natan visitors’ book.
