Summer vacation is our favorite time of the year! It is our tradition to organize a summer camp every year in the Hesed. On Friday at Shabbat, our Hesed employees congratulated the community kids with the end of the academic year.

We hold our Shabbats according to the Jewish tradition. That time our children were also reciting prayers, singing Shabbat songs, and having fun together. Then we invited them to taste a big cake.
After Shabbat I came up to Katya Bushina to ask her what our Saturdays give her. She answered, "I like Shabbats very much because I need to learn a lot about Jewish traditions. We say prayers, learn Shabbat songs, and discuss Torah chapters. We often meet new people here, play funny games. I would like to see more children at our other events so that children take active participation in the life of the Jewish community. I would like us to have more outdoor activities like swimming and hiking. I would like to go to other cities, not only to Karaganda, to meet new friends there."
The children went home in a very good mood - they are on holiday now and can come to Hesed every day. And of course they know that we have many pleasant surprises for them during the summer months!
