A Meeting to hear reports and elect a new leader was held in the Jewish Cultural Center of Petropavlovsk on June 15. For many years, Yuriy Evdayev, a well-known in Petropavlovsk businessman, was in charge of the Center. He reported to the meeting participants on the work done. His activities were defined as satisfactory.

Mark Vitkin, one of the eldest members of our community, addressed the participants before the voting, "Evdayev’s family is a highly respected family in our city. Their financial support and active involvement to reviving of Jewish traditions is well known to all of us."

The Initiative Group took minutes. It is good that it was a competitive election. There were three candidates: businessmen Yuriy Evdayev and Rashbil Evdayev, and a leader of a youth movement Kseniya Agranovich. It was difficult to choose the right candidate because everybody had his/her well developed program, implementation steps, and well defined prospective.

Rashbil Evdayev was elected a new Chairman of the Cultural Center who stated that he, as his brother, is going to participate in all Jewish events, help the community and people, and do his best to develop and strengthen Jewish traditions in Petropavlovsk.
