Our children and adults like participating in our community events. Recently, we had a discussion devoted to the Jerusalem Day. The capital’s second birth was announced on May 14, 1948. Hesed Director Elena Dmitriyeva congratulated everybody on this remarkable day and told about her own impressions of the Sacred Land and its heart - Jerusalem.
I continued the story of the ancient city of three religions - the eternal capital of Israel. The guys learned about many romantic love stories inspired by Jerusalem. We were reading beautiful poems by Naomi Shemer translated by Liya Vladimirovna, "My city is full of light; it is sacred - Golden Yerushalaim…" Taraz dwellers not only like to listen to poems but also create poems. Valentina Gerr named her poem "Saint Jerusalem".
We held a quiz for children "Do you know the history of Jewish people?", which reminded them about the touching stories happened to Rabi Shimon, amazing stories about Rabi Akiv, a well-known story of Rut and Boaza, and many other things. Members of the dancing group "Tamir" Artem Krenev, Yaroslava Gvozdevskaya, Maxim Smerichinskiy, Anastasiya Nikitchenko, Lidiya Dobrynina, Arina Koy, Valeriya Starkova, and Yuliya Kobrik under the guidance of Mariya Koroleva performed dances "Joy in Jerusalem" and "Holiday in Haifa".
This was our Jerusalem Day, full of fun and useful activities.
