Rosh-ha-shana – one of the Jewish holidays can be celebrated differently. The Jewish community of Almaty has chosen unusual way: the largest action devoted to the Jewish new year has been spent in the form of competition.
In total has taken part seven commands – all clubs of our community. There were active workers of communal life – «Seven Forty», family club "Shalom", youth club, program «Children's initiative», clients of "Day center», club «Young family» and even the kids who have entitled the command «Jewish people». And certainly, for each command there were support groups – the event has collected some hundreds persons. The hall was full!
Seven commands have stepped on the stage to compete – who knows traditions and customs of a holiday better? Who is faster and who better prepared homework. There was jury led by the chairman, rabbi Shevah Zlatopolsky.
Before the beginning of a quiz with a salutatory word the president of Association of the Jewish organizations of Republic Kazakhstan Aleksandr Baron addressed, marking communal teamwork of commands, and he wished good luck.
Noone can say that tasks were easy. It was required to remember everything that you know about the holiday.
But all commands coped with the task, chose pictures with the subjects concerning by a holiday, answered for the speed for a minute up to twenty questions. The played commands were helped also by spectators from support group, guessing the Jewish melodies and giving the earned points to favorite team.
Especially it is necessary to note homework. Known fairy tales – "Repka", "Kolobok", «Masha and three bears» and others were interpreted in a new way, in a Jewish way and with motive of a holiday. For this task of a command prepared independently and have shown all creative approach.
And when time of the awards has come. The first place already was got by youth club, but there was also Grand prix – and it was for «Seven Forty». However, it is necessary to congratulate everybody, after all rupture in points was small, and everyone has tried wonderfully well!
Competition-quiz has turned out simultaneously cheerful and informative, after all every participant was prepared wonderfully well. And the most important thing the competition was communal action. A community prepared, a community has spent, and nobody stood aside!
