The "Day Center" of Almaty hesed led by Kriventsova Natalya makes everyday events for older people. Groups of 10-12 persons come together to have a cup of tea and discuss latest news of cultural and other life.
The film "Muhtar Auezov. Tragedy of the triumpher" by director Alexander Golovinsky showed in the "Day Center" became one of such events. The documentary became the winner of national Kazakhstan award "Kulager" in "Best Documentary" nomination and its premiere took place on March, 2d, 2011. For the “Day Center’s” clients the film was interesting not only as history of our country but also reminded them events of the middle of XX century which they witnessed. There was a discussion about one of film’s characters, academician Dmitry Lihachev who has been sentenced to 17 years of camps. After the display the clients expressed their wish to see the second part as soon as possible and thanked Natalya Kriventsova.
The "Day Center" and its head for many years has been helping older persons to meet each other and to watch all the bright events of both Jewish and Kazakhstan cultural life. The interest which was caused by winner of the “Kulager” award is the best acknowledgement to it.
