Cheerful, tasty and informative was the celebrating of Shavuot for children of the Jewish community of Almaty. Organized by communal center "Rimon" led by director Inessa Chugainova and the head of the program «Children's initiative» Zhanna Danilenko holiday suited literally to taste of everyone as according to tradition the children had their ice-cream, berries and juice. But there were not only tasty things for children. Anna Sailjants told the story of this great day when many years ago Jews have received Torah and the Ten Commandments. She told the stories connected with the holiday. But children not simply listened to them, but also participated reading specially composed verses. And the club of teenagers of our communal center, our communal dancers performed cheerful dance. However, also serious events have taken place such as reading the Ten Commandments by the children. All of us had feeling of reception the Torah and how it is important for Jews. Our ancestors made their long way from Egypt slavery to rise into highest spiritual level. And we felt it.

We are now all together. Perhaps not at the Sinai mount, but in our hospitable communal center. For the community - children, adults and older persons, communal center "Rimon" is the place where we celebrate holidays, gather for discussions, and simply meet. We are glad that we have a possibility to arrange such holidays with tasty food, quizes, verses and dances; there is a possibility to rejoice lives and to feel ourselves as the Jew in our community
