The annual volunteer project for Kazakhstani and American students took the start on ninth of August. Thirty four persons from USA, Almaty and other cities of Kazakhstan welcomed each other in the Jewish communal center “Rimon”. Despite a long students have been very interested that.
The national Jewish library named after Moris Simashko was presented by Natalia Kovalenko. She has told to our foreign and Kazakhstani visitors about all achievements — the general book fund of 50 thousand books, projects for visually impaired, film fund, and that people come to library not to simple take books but to communicate and they consider this place as the club on interests.
Then there was communal center “Rimon’s” turn where children camp is taking place. Singing, dancing, drawing various hand-made by children was presented, and also the students were told that they will have a chance to work with kids.
One of the main aspects of activity of volunteers is the help to Hesed and particularly to the program "Home care". The fact-finding conversation about what for and why Valentina Sokolkova with her workers do took place. And than visitors students will be engaged. To help elderly, sick people is undoubtedly one of the noblest employment..
Then there was a meeting with the president of Association of the Jewish organizations of Kazakhstan Alexander Baron. This meeting has been issued as lecture-conversation where students have not only listened to story of the Jewish community of Republic Kazakhstan, but could ask any questions.
And, at last, the most cheerful part of day. Nastya Borovikova has prepared an "ice breaker” training. After all students should work together. And we hope our volunteers to became true friends.
The project for the American and Kazakhstani students is one of the most large-scale projects of the Jewish community of Republic Kazakhstan. Carried out at sponsor's support of JDC, annually we welcome visitors from the USA and other cities of Kazakhstan. And together they help to the members of the community, have a good time, and find new friends.
