For all people of the former USSR one of the most significant holidays remains anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war. And for Jews this holiday is important doubly, after all the fascist power wished to exterminate Jews. And community, remembering a feat of our veterans, once again renders a tribute of memory and gratitude.

The 6th of May the meeting of veterans of the Great Patriotic war with our youth has been organized in communal center "Rimon" by director Inessa Chugajnova. There was the head of "Joint" at Kazakhstan and Kyrgystan Ilana Levi who stayed till the end of the meeting. And special visitors, veterans of the Great Patriotic War Arcady Plotkin and Lily Shparberg have come to tell to the youth about events of those years.

Lily Shparberg has told, how the first bombardments began in Odessa and she went to military registration and was accepted as typist. Colonel Arcady Plotkin not only told, but also showed a backpack, a groundsheet - all things necessary for a soldier. Stories of veterans have caused a ready response in youth. Our young men asked questions, tried a groundsheet. Especial interest was caused by «a museum relic» - the newspaper for 1945. Stories of veterans are frequently sad as the war is never cheerful, and we listen to the story with fading heart, maybe, secretly rejoicing that we didn’t face a war ourselves …

And on May, 15th there was an evening for veterans with concert, festive table, flowers and memorable gifts. After a word of the president of the Jewish communities of Kazakhstan Alexander Baron in which the gratitude to veterans and kind wishes sounded, songs of those years sounded and then youth dancing ensemble presented some dances. Veterans not only listened, but even sang. The film devoted to last year's 65-year-old anniversary of the Victory has been shown. The veterans together with youth and children planted trees – a symbol of life. And we thank for it our heroes, the veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
