PURIM IN PAVLODAR

Pavlodar 25.03.11

Purim is the most joyful holiday of Jewish calendar. Our wise men told that when Adar comes our joy increases. And everything changes: the weak one becomes strong, won one - the winner, and coward turns to the man of courage. There are a lot of Purim customs. Megilat Ester was read in our synagogue and we all came to listen it. Also we made mishlah manot to our friends and relatives. There was Hesed’s News special telling about traditions and customs of the holiday and also the songs, the verses and “homentashen” cookies recipe. All wards of Home care service have received mishlah manot gifts which were prepared and carried on by Tatyana Kuznetsova. There were also “Aman’s ears” cookies between the gifts.
This year Purim was made in the Friendship House. The holiday began with the main custom, the Megilat Ester reading. And when our rabbi Shmuel said a world “Aman” everybody amicably stamped feet and in a hall there was a deafening sound of rattles. Then children from the Children's Day center (Lenya Petrov, Sasha Tyrykin, Roma Karapuzov, Natasha Naryn, Zarina Safin, Masha Stazaeva, Abylajhan Begagolin, Tamara Merzhoeva, Nastja Bykovsky, Mark Shneerov, Daniel Mihajlenko) read verses and sang songs about Purim. Vocal collective "Teibelah" participated in the concert (Renata Zherebetsky, Gelena Zherebetsky, Lyudmila Tsymbal, Svetlana Filjanova, Alla Poddubnaja). This year participants of fa mily and youth club (Evgenie Mihajlenko, Sergey Tyrykin, Sergey Junda, Elena Bashtovaja, Elena Petrova, Sergey Ahmetzjanov, Alexander Tselovalnikov, Polina Engel, Liza Daerbaeva, Katya Zhdanova) became actors of cheerful musical Purimshpiel It was interesting to see and hear history of those events put on a melody of songs favorite by all. It was alsp family club competition of masks and rattles. Families of Karapuzov, Junda, Tyrikin, Petrov, Begagolin took their part. Each family had very interesting and original masks and rattles. The most original mask was named the one by Karapuzov family. The Hesed’s director Tatyana Slivinsky thanked everybody for great holiday. The final event of the holiday was celebratory meal prepared by Women’s club: Lyudmila Tsymbal, Svetlana Filjanova, Ekaterina Naugolnyh, Galina Dzjuba, Tatyana Kuznetsova. We wished each other peace and fun not only at the Purim table but all over the year. And the same wish for all of us!
