On June 1st in the synagogue of the city of Astana the solemn introduction of a new scroll of Torah took place. The program of event included writing of the last letters of the Torah, solemn reading and celebration in honor of this event.

On introduction of a new scroll of Torah there was the main Ashkenazy rabbi of the state of Israel Jon Metsger and the main Sefardi rabbi of the state of Israel Shlomo Amar. As leaders of the Jewish communal life of the Republic of Kazakhstan there were the head of the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan Alexander Mashkevich and the president of the Association of Jewish organizations "Mitsva" Alexander Baron who took part in writing of the last letters of the Torah.

The Torah scroll for a synagogue of the city of Astana was written by the best soyfers of Israel. Introduction of a scroll marks a new era for the synagogue and the Jewish community of the city.
