On April 19 in the Jewish communal city center of Almaty the memorial event devoted to memory of victims of the Holocaust took place. More than forty people came to honor memory of victims in Catastrophe. The head rabbi of Almaty Elkhanan Cohen notes: each Jew is responsible for others, and our task is to remember tragedy of our people. Rabbi Shevah Zlatopolsky lit a funeral candle and read the prayer Kadesh meaning that memory of victims of the Holocaust is alive and we grieve over everyone.

The president of Association of the Jewish organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexander Baron in the words noted that the Catastrophe concerned almost each Jew. «It is the personal tragedy for all of us», Alexander Baron told, opening memorial event. Teacher Lyubov Koretskaya told about Holocaust history in Germany and in the territory of the former USSR, having noted that at Soviet Russia the Holocaust was suppressed, only in 1976 on a place of Babiy Yar was founded a monument in the memory of victims.

Memorial event was made in the form of an illustration both musical and theatrical. Children and teenagers of clubs of the communal center presented short, but certainly bright and tragic sketch abut destinies and lives of people suddenly broken by Nazis. But the song which has sounded in summary proclaiming “not to shoot the people» and it was a hope symbol.

And everyone who lit a candle in memory of victims of Catastrophe of the Jewish people, joined in this hope.
