SEMINAR "JEWISH PRESS TODAY"

  The first JDC seminar for Jewish journalists from Central Asia and Transcaucasia took place in Almaty 19-21 December 2000.
Journalists were discussing common problems of Jewish periodical press and found out that it was much easier to solve problems together.

  Yuval Shakhal, lecturer from Jerusalem and Natan Gelman, JDC representative read lectures on history of journalism, Natalya Rynkovskya read lectures on Jewish culture and tradition. Also there were lectures on the history of Jewish Press and Internet newspaper, meeting with Igor Meltser, the Chief Editor of newspaper "Vremya".

  The students edited their own newspaper "Sem Ya" while being in the seminar, they new exactly that Jewish press is existing and developing.
Journalists decided to establish Forum - a special institute to unite and lead all Jewish pressmen. And at the next seminar planning in Tbilisi in January this question will be discussed in details.

  On Thursday night everybody met to celebrate Hanukkah - the brightest Jewish holiday.
