BRAVO, "HOSTESSES"

Cholit  Recently "Hostess" club within Shymkent JCC celebrated its second anniversary. In order to make everybody remember the event for a long time, club members organized a contest for the best Jewish national dish.

Club members were looking forward to that day, worried, asked each other for advice concerning the meals - generally, they were very excited. Participants of the contests were the most skillful and active "hostesses". And most meals they cooked had already been tasted during Jewish holidays.

Finally, the dishes were ready and the table was elegantly decorated. How tasty everything was! Nobody remained indifferent.

"All members of "Hostess" club", the head of the club Rachel Meir said, "are a group of gourmets who like to cook something unusual, to taste their "masterpieces", and of course to treat others.

The winners were determined by an authoritative jury: M.Gurbanova - Hesed director, M.Tomashevskaya - the cook, B.Lipetskaya - Hesed Sunday School director. The first prize was awarded to L.Solodkina's liver pate, the second - to N.Melnikova's flacky cake and to N.Viktorova's roll; audiences' prize was given to Y.Efremova for her "tasty flowers". Everybody got presents, but of course the best award for the women was gratitude of "tasters" and household.

It is worth mentioning that near the festive table there were knitted mitten, scarves, and socks. This vicinity may seem strange. But it is all right. Culinary muse of the community - Rachel Meir became enthusiastic about knitting and inspired other "hostesses". In their free time they knit small things for lonely Hesed clients. Bravo, "hostesses"!
