Tu
B'Shvat has its own honorary place in the Jewish calendar. From the very beginning
of creation of the world the Almighty was planting trees (in the Torah trees
are compared with the sons of Israel).
Tu B'Shvat is celebrated in spring, when nature is reviving. That
is why the day when Erets Yisrael begins giving life to the new crop, is the
day of joy for the Jewish people. Everybody, the old and the young, has to plant
a tree on the example of the Most High.
And we, the day Center, celebrated Tu B'Shvat by planting a date-stone
and the cutting of a lemon-tree. Then we said a prayer for rich harvest. Now
we will wait till our new children take root.
In conclusion of the meeting the Day Center had tee. A pie made
of wheat flour, grape juice, fig jam, dates and pomegranates reminded us about
the faraway Motherland. Wonderful mood, merry songs, blessing "over land
and its fruits" concluded our festive evening.
