 Dreaming
about Eretz Israel and remaining in Almaty in her soul is a poet Svetlana Steingrud.
A book of her poems "Premonition of Life" first appeared in the Republican
Jewish Library two years ago. And together with it a new person came into our
life - a woman who found her way to Zion.
 Today
Svetlana Steingrud is in her native city again, she has come for a few days,
and the city hurries to see and to hear her. Her friends, colleagues, and readers
have gathered in Hesed "Polina" to listen to her memories and poetical
fantasies.
Svetlana's Hebrew is brilliant, still she keeps writing in Russian.
While she is concerned about the Jewish people and Israeli problems, her poems
remain romantic and full of love. Her verses are a mix of cultures and traditions,
images of the past, present, and future. While in Jerusalem she dreams of Almaty,
and when staying in her native city, she is homesick about Israel.
We always look forward to welcoming her here, at home. The community
does not forget its members. The community remembers its friends!
