The
Jewish community of Ust-Kamenogorsk city has been celebrating Tu B'Shvat for
two days. The Jewish culture and tradition club gathered in Hesed "Faina"
on January 18, and on January 19 members of the women's club came there.
How was that? In the beginning there was a fascinating story about
the history of this beautiful holiday - we try to imagine how the Promised
Land looks like (though most of the community members have not been there),
trees are still sleeping - it is embodied in white wine in our glasses.
The trees are beginning to wake up, sap is moving - we add red wine and
it turns pink. And then more red wine - there appear buds and leaves; soon
there will be flowers. Imagine this magnificent land! We had various fruits
on our tables - everything we could find in winter Ust-Kamenogorsk: raisins,
nuts, apples, and dried apricots.
We were joking and laughing. Even though we had no chance to plant
trees in January, we knew, that our friends and relatives would plant them in
the Land of Israel. Live in peace, our native land!
