| "Jews keep Shabbat, Shabbat
keeps Jews"
Observing
Shabbat for us is expression of our belief in G-d and admission of
the fact that besides for the material world there is also a spiritual one. Shabbat
is dedicated to it. The Torah says that one must rest from work, because work
is an action that creates something new. We hold the Tradition sacred.
Every week people gather in "Galina" Warm Home to celebrate
Shabbat. With their heads covered women say the prayer and light Shabbat candles.
They ask G-d for assistance for each member of the community. Men, also in turn,
say kiddush over wine.
Then the blessing over two challahs
is said. After that the guests wish each other "bon appetit!", and the
festive meal begins.
Most
clients do not come to the Warm
Home at once. It takes many of them several months. But after entering this
cosy flat people understand that it is their home.
"Regular
meetings in the Warm Home give lonely people a charge of energy and optimism and
help them to regain taste for life," says Hana Winz, a Warm Home client.
"I can't imagine my life without my friends from the Warm Home".
