COMING BACK TO ROOTS

  Exhibition of Jewish artists "Coming back to roots" has started its work in "Umai" art museum. The exhibition, organized by "Mitsva" Association, Jewish community center "Rimon", art museum named after Sharden, is held in the framework of Jewish Book Community Festival - 2004.

   Painting, graphics, and sculpture was represented at the exhibition. There were works of both famous authors, such as Nina Ginzburg, Uriy Shneiderman, Vladimir Katzev, Muchail Rapoport, and promising authors - Marya Vedeshina, Pavel Dragunov, Dmitriy Makushinskiy, Evgeniya Solopova.

   The opening ceremony was held by Aleksandra Zikina, a director of Jewish community center "Rimon". Aleksandra told guests about OFEK's history, introduced artists whose works were exhibited; she also congratulated Jewish community and its friends on one more, the 7-th, Book Holiday.

   Unexpected, but very pleasant present for guests was a performance of Ahan Meirbekov, a young violin player, winner of major international and Kazakhstani contests. Ahan performed "Israel's cry" and several favorite works.

   Representatives of Jewish organizations of Kazakhstan, creative intelligence of Almaty and press attended the exhibition opening ceremony. The exhibition would be held till October 10. As organizers wished, entrance into the exhibition hall was free. Everybody could see all the works.
