The
Kokshetau JCC youth club "Anahnu" has acquired a good tradition -
to gather in a so-called Jewish Cinema once a month.
They
drink tea and eat pastry by "Tsimes" culinary club; then they
sit down in front of the TV set looking forward to a new cinema trip.
Some
films, like "Ordinary Fascism" or "Shindler's List"
bring back the Jews' terrible past. But when the teenagers watch films
about Israel, wide smiles appear on their faces, and their eyes shine.
The last film they watched was an amateur shooting of Hanukah
5754 celebration in Kokshetau Jewish community. It was the first Hanukah
in the newly founded Hesed and JCC. Many of those who attended it currently
live in Israel. But those who remained in Kokshetau managed not to lose
each other and to consolidate the community.
