Thanks
to Naum Shafer's house museum Pavlodar Jews have had a chance to plunge
in the world of music with "Light of Hope" CD issued last year.
"Light
of Hope" is an anthology of Jewish songs of the middle XIX -
early XX centuries. Its authors call the CD "150-years
of Jewish history in sound".
The idea to create "Light of Hope" belongs to Naum
Shafer. He took a risk and recorded all the famous Jewish songs in Russian.
It was meant to draw the attention of the youth to the Jewish music culture.
And Shafer managed to rouse the youth's interest! This time
the youth and children's club representatives came to the professor's
home. The Pavlodar JCC director Irina Tveritneva gladly noticed that after
the CD presentation the youth showed more enthusiasm for the Jewish music.
