On the fifth day of Chanukah week in Shimkent, in the House of Friendship of Kazakhstani Nations was held a concert devoted to the holiday of light. Hesed "Shimon" was an organizer of it.

   Having entered a hall decorated with colored balloons the guests couldn't take their eyes from a wonderful Chanukah menorah.

  The concert, conducted by Elena Udaltsova, a city community center director, included the performance of an ensemble under the leadership of A.A. Korotkova, I. Drobot and "Theatre" quartet.

   Spectators especially liked the smallest concert participants that recited poems and sang songs in Hebrew. A gust from Tashkent, wonderfully permormed on his violin a composition of the Jewish author also took part in the concert.

   With great pleasure the guests listened to a play of a young saxophonist Evgeniy Dobrot. Everybody was applauded to a play staged by Lena and Nikolay Atran about a widow Egudit and a military leader Olafern. There was also held a quiz in which took part both spectators and actors.

  The holiday evening was finished with lightning of Chanukah candles and a wonderful fireworks.
