Dunaevsky's soiree's was held in the Taraz JCC.
Dunaevsky showed music talent in childhood. After graduation
from a gymnasium and conservatory he played in the Kharkov Theatre's orchestra.
The director soon noticed the talented musician and asked him to write
music for one of the performances.
The debut was successful. Dunaevsky began to win public recognition.
Then during WWII he went on a concert tour round the country - hospitals,
military units, munitions factories etc.
Elderly
community members who came to the club meeting enjoyed famous soundtracks
to popular Soviet films of 30-50s. That is why when the music started
they began singing together.
As the pleased community members were leaving the club, the
hosts promised to invite them soon to a new interesting meeting with Jewish
musicians.
