Cultural Center in Pavlodar City is one of the oldest in Kazakhstan. In 1990
about 500 people united in one organization. Before that there were several
small units where people gathered to remember their tradition passed from generation
to generation, to talk about interesting things or just to meet nice people.
And also they wanted to study their native language.
That time everybody interested could study with a teacher from Moscow.
Step by step a national school was founded. Later, in 90s this school got its
official status, it worked under the aegis of Small Assembly of the People of
Kazakhstan. It was a School of the National Revival. Now the representatives
of different nations, including Jews, have a chance to prepare their own holidays,
performances of choruses and dancing ensembles.
Every Monday people gather in Pavlodar JCC just to talk about life.
They enjoy reading letters from those who moved to Israel, people discuss the
details of Israel life: family life, relations with the new coworkers, etc.
It is natural for the Jewish community to study and keep to their
background. Thus, they study the Torah on Saturdays after the prayer.
And of course, they celebrate holidays together, enjoying Rosh-Hashanah and
emancipation from slavery at Purim.
